6-8 p.m. Bring a Picnic for the Greenwood Community Band Patriotic Concert

Bring a picnic and a blanket and settle in to enjoy the music of the Greenwood Community Band as they perform an hour-long concert at 7 p.m. playing a variety of patriotic classics at the Greenwood Amphitheater, located behind the Greenwood Community Center at 100 Surina Way, Greenwood, Indiana, 46143. Enjoy hot dogs, chips and bottled water compliments of the Kite Family in memory of Bert Kite and Sam's Club. We will serve at 6 p.m. while supplies last.

Greenwood Freedom Festival's Recycling Event



The City of Greenwood, The Gathering Place at Community Church of Greenwood and Hoosier Shred partner with Disposal Alternatives Organization (DAO) to present a free drop-off recycle destination during the Greenwood Freedom Festival. The Greenwood Freedom Festival Recycle Event takes place at The Gathering Place, 1495 West Main Street, Greenwood, IN 46142. Residents and businesses can bring items to recycle such as; computers, office equipment, appliances and electronics along with other hard to recycle items during the event. The event is free and will take place on Saturday, June 25th from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

DAO will also provide free pick up of large appliances, washers, dryers, refrigerators, water heaters, furnaces, lawn mowers, and other large items during the week of June 20th through June 26th. Residents or businesses should call DAO at (317) 375-7788 by Thursday, June 16th, to schedule a pick up appointment.

9-3 p.m. Old Town Greenwood Street Fair


The Old Town Street Fair is full of food, fun and family entertainment! It is located in Old City Park on Machledt Drive, between Madison Avenue and Meridian Street. Enjoy the offerings of more than 80 merhants, food and craft booths. The kids' zone features inflatables, live entertainment and other fun activities for the whole family. Don't miss the book sale at the Greenwood Public Library, which is just south of Old City Park. Also, join us for a Pancake Breakfast provided by the Boy Scouts.

9-4 p.m. Hoosier Falcon Open Car Show

Enter your show car in the Open Car Show at the Greenwood Community Center. Registration is from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with awards presented at 2:30 p.m. To pre-register, click here.

Greenwood Freedom Festival Children's Parade


Line-up begins at 8:00 a.m. at the Greenwood Middle School. Kids can bring their bicycles decorated in patriotic colors to ride and lead out the Main Parade.

10 a.m. "Fun, Frolic & Freedom" at the Greenwood Freedom Festival Main Parade


The theme for the 2011 Greenwood Freedom Festival Parade is “Fun, Frolic & Freedom.” The Gordon Pipers and Greenwood Community High School Drum Line are scheduled to perform. First, second, and third place prizes will be awarded to the parade float or entry that best represents the spirit of this year's parade theme. The Parade Grand Marshal and the Parade Committee will each choose the parade float or entry that they feel best represents the spirit of the parade theme.

Parade entry applications are currently being accepted and forms may be downloaded from this website. Parade line-up begins at 8:00 a.m. in the south parking lot of the Greenwood Middle School, located at 523 S. Madison Avenue, Greenwood, Indiana, 46142.

The parade route will be the same as last year, starting at the Greenwood Middle School on Madison Avenue, traveling north along Madison Avenue to Broadway, turning east on Broadway to Meridian and then following Meridian south back to the Middle School parking lot.

Learn more about all of the festival’s offerings for the day by visiting the new, official GREENWOOD FREEDOM FESTIVAL COMMITTEE INFORMATION BOOTH.

During the Old Town Street Fair, an Information Booth will be located at the center of the field at 50 W. Machledt Drive, northwest of Old City Park. During the evening activities, an Information Booth will be located next to the Main Entertainment Stage. Obtain maps, information, schedules, first-aid and purchase official Freedom Festival t-shirts at the Information Booth. Learn more about the event, and find-out how to become involved as a volunteer or sponsor next year!

Stop by the Greenwood Police Department

On your way to picnic and see the fireworks, take a few minutes to visit with the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO), The David S. Moore Foundation and Indiana Concerns for Police Survivors (IN COPS). These non-profit organizations will be set-up in front of the Police Department - 186 Surina Way.

Enjoy a Free Concert by Tastes Like Chicken at the Evening Entertainment Main Stage

Prior to the fireworks, bring a picnic and enjoy the sounds of summer at our Evening Entertainment Stage.

9:45 p.m. Honor the Flag Ceremony and Patriotic Set
Members of the City of Greenwood award-winning Fire Honor Guard will lower and remove the flag, at the flagpole located northeast of the Evening Main Entertainment Stage. Greenwood’s Honorable Mayor Charles E. Henderson will open the patriotic portion of the celebration with the Pledge of Allegiance. Performances of patriotic classics and the National Anthem will follow.

Be Dazzled at the City of Greenwood Fireworks Celebration
Presented by the City of Greenwood.

Enjoy the largest fireworks display in Greenwood provided by Mad Bomber fireworks.

New this year,
fireworks will be synchronized to music courtesy of KORN Country 100.3 fm!
